A Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) is a report which can form part of a planning application for proposed developments in England. The aim of the document is to establish the risks from all sources of flooding and ensure that a development meets the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and associated guidance.
This webinar will provide an overview of the planning policies which dictate when an FRA is required and the elements that an FRA should consider. John Young will share his experience of recent development proposals in Bristol and, given the complexity of the flood risk issues in the city, some of the challenges which have been overcome to allow for developments which are compliant with the relevant legislation.
In complex settings like Bristol, the outputs from a hydraulic model can provide evidence to meet the requirements of these planning policies. John will provide examples from Edenvale Young's work in the city to show how a hydraulic model can be used to demonstrate compliance to the relevant authorities as part of an FRA.
A similar document, known as a Flood Consequence Assessment (FCA), is required in Wales, but this webinar will focus on FRAs.
The webinar is aimed at planners, architects and practitioners who may require an FRA as part of their development proposal.
